Comic Nerds Unite: Comic Book Podcast

Tim's eldest daughter Lexi loves Supergirl.  Supergirl has a popular TV show.  It only seemed natural to combine these two things and do a Supergirl TV show episode with Lexi!  We dive into the show in general, its characters and memorable episodes, and we specifically talk about the season finale "Better Angels" as a Watching Assignment.  We also discuss Superman/Batman #19 by Jeph Loeb and Ian Churchill, and Supergirl #s 9-15 by Joe Kelly and Ian Churchill.

This week's episode is brought to you by children with good memories.

A Marc-eting genius at CNU thought it would be good to hop on the Captain America: Civil War hype train and do the Civil War series.

Choose a side, listeners!  This week, in honor of the new Captain America film, we tackle the Marvel event of 2006, Civil War!  We talk about Amazing Spider-man #529-531 by J. Michael Stracyznski, the main Civil War series, by Mark Millar, Steve McNiven, and Dexter Vines, the mysterious Illuminati and we talk about the impact Civil War had on the Marvel landscape back in 2006 and beyond.

Marvel's Civil War (2006) starred Captain America, Tony Stark (Iron Man), Spider-man, and all the other Marvel superheroes squaring off to support or oppose a Super-powered Registration Act.

Miscrediting Brian Michael Bendis is this week's unofficial sponsor.

Craziness in a car.

On our way to C2E2 in Chicago, we thought it'd be fun to record an episode! In part one, we talk about our hopes & goals at the convention.

In part two, we discuss what we actually did at the con, including meeting Chris Claremont & Marguerite Bennett and hanging out with Ted Sikora of Apama, the Undiscovered Animal.

In part three, we just leave the microphone on & shoot the shit. Marc manages to fit in a quick review of Sword of the Atom from DC Comics, written by Jan Strnand and art by Gil Kane. This episode really captures what it's like to take a road trip with your friends...if your friends love comics.

Let's get biblical.

This week Tim and Marc discuss the classic JLA tale, Tower of Babel!  It was published in 2000 from DC Comics, and written by Mark Waid, with pencilling duties by Howard Porter and Steve Scott.  Ever wonder how Batman would take out his best friends and colleagues?  This story will tell you how!

We also read some listener mail from Kent Wagenschutz and Dylan Martino, and Marc talks about Milk & Cheese's Other #1, written and drawn by Evan Dorkin, from Slave Labor Graphics.

We were so excited about the Deadpool movie we just had to talk about it!  We dig deep, so if you haven't seen it yet, rush to your theater and watch it!  We'll wait!  ...ready?

Okay, great.

How great was Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, Gina Carano, T.J. Miller, and Ed Skrein in this movie? The writers nailed all the fourth wall breaking, quick wit of Deadpool for sure too. R-rated superhero movies are a rare thing and we were not left wanting.

We also talk about Tim's trepidation with his house selling, Detective Comics by Brian Buccellato and Francis Manapul, Werewolf by Night #27 by Doug Moench and Don Perlin, Conan #56 by Roy Thomas and John Buscema, a Weird Jack Kirby fact, and letters!
